Champion Sam’s Season

Improve Your Snooker Academy member Sam McKay has just finished his second season of competition, and what a season it was!

Sam, who only recently turned 14, competed in the Scottish junior tours at under 14, under 16 and under 21 level and equipped himself in excellent style, becoming the Scottish National Champion and no.1 ranked player at both Under 14 and Under 16 level.

Sam also made his maiden debut on the main tour and reached the last 32 of the National Championship where he gave a good account of himself and should consider himself unlucky not to progress further.

Add this to the fact Sam after his first season of competition where he both captained and represented Scotland at the home internationals will, once again captain the team this year for which he can be justifiably proud of his achievements.

Sam has certainly reaped the rewards for his hard work and dedication this season and Jim has been delighted with his progress.

Sam’s dad Donald is also delighted with his progress and said, “Sam and Jim have worked hard together this year to improve Sam’s all round game and it certainly is starting to show through. It was always going to be hard to top last season but thanks to Jim and his encouragement and guidance of Sam, he really kicked on this year and made great leaps forward. Sam and Jim have a real connection in their love and enthusiasm for the game and it’s great to see how much Sam is learning from Jim every lesson they have together.”

Below is a summary of Sam’s achievements and already Jim and Sam have started work on next season which will start with the Home Internationals in Leeds this August where Sam will once again don his Scotland waistcoat and lead his team forward.

Congratulations Sam on an excellent 2nd season, you can be proud of everything you have achieved so far in such a short space of time!
